Elizabeth Jung
Works and lives in Chicago, IL, USA elizabeth.jung153@gmail.com @elizabethjungart "Having lived in many different places in Korea, the United States and France, my temporary homes and their interior spaces became a fascinating subject for my art that is about constructing imaginary spaces using colors, geometry, and architectural elements. My process of painting repeats construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction, which often results in trompe l’oeil and exaggerated perspectives. Each space is constructed with layers of both personal spatial memories and imagination. To me, the empty spaces are a starting point of adventurous imaginations, then I fill the spaces with various elements to find unique compositions. I want to invite the viewers to find themselves experiencing the tension, disorientation and ambiguity through the layers of these pictorial spaces and their unusual structures."
