Chapter One
The former model's long silky blonde hair had been perfectly arranged, adding the right touch of color as it fanned out across the satin blue pillows. She looked beautiful. Her long slender arms had been crossed and the palms of her hands rested flat against her perfect shaped breasts. The thin straps of her shocking pink nightgown rested on her smooth white shoulders. A decorative bright floral bedspread had also been carefully arranged to cover the rest of her body as well as the entire bed. With just a casual glance, no one could see that it had been placed to hide the puddles of her blood and her numerous stab wounds.
The rest of the master bedroom was undisturbed. Everything was in its proper place and neatly arranged. Down the gray, plus carpeted hall, a three-month old baby boy laid on his back, lifeless in his blue expensive crib. His numerous brightly colored toys had been carefully arranged below his feet. His dark blue blanket had been placed casually over his multi-colored terry cloth sleeper.
A large white teddy bear with a bright blue ribbon had been carefully propped against the bottom corner post. Across the room, blood dripped from the diaper changing table onto the soft blue carpet. A long, blood-soaked kitchen knife had been discarded into the empty diaper pail. A stack of disposable diapers was piled on a nearby white table. Blood spots dotted the top diaper and beads of blood glistened on the white tabletop.
Across the room, broken pieces of a home monitoring system lay on the windowsill. In front of the open hallway door, milk from a crushed plastic baby bottle soaked the bedroom carpet and formed a large white-crusted circle. Further down the hallway, a six-year old girl lay motionless on the floor just outside of her bedroom. Her long blonde hair and blue pajamas were soaked with blood. She clutched a once white cordless telephone to her chest. Several large bloody footsteps covered the hall carpet. They formed a trail from the master bedroom to the nursery and down the hall to the girl's bedroom.
